O primeiro shopping cultural do Maranhão, o Shopping Rua Grande, foi inaugurado nesta quarta-feira (26). O evento contou com a presença do governador Carlos Brandão, que destacou a revitalização do prédio a partir do programa Adote Um Casarão, vinculado ao programa Nosso Centro.
O empreendimento possui uma área de 2.100 m² em três pavimentos e oferece elevadores e sistema de wi-fi para o público. Com mais de 70 lojas e metade da capacidade já locada, o espaço é um grande atrativo comercial, localizado no início da Rua Grande, próximo ao Palacete Gentil Braga.
Além da parte comercial, o prédio também dispõe de serviços do Viva/Procon, praça de alimentação e uma sacada com vista para a Rua Grande. Durante a inauguração, um dos sócios e representante do Shopping Rua Grande, Ribamar Viana, destacou a importância do Adote Um Casarão.
O programa Adote um Casarão é desenvolvido pela Secretaria de Estado das Cidades e Desenvolvimento Urbano (Secid) e disponibiliza imóveis do Estado para empresas e grupos culturais com o compromisso de restaurar o espaço e utilizá-lo por um período de 15 a 30 anos.
A secretária de Estado das Cidades e Desenvolvimento Urbano, Joslene Rodrigues, ressaltou que dar vida ao patrimônio histórico é uma grande realização da gestão estadual. O Shopping Rua Grande também abriu espaço para que artesãos possam apresentar seus trabalhos por um período com um valor mais acessível.
