De 18 a 27 deste mês, a cidade de São Luís se prepara para a segunda edição do Festival da Farinha, um evento que celebra a cultura da mandiocultura e incentiva a produção agrícola nas comunidades da Zona Rural. Organizado pela Secretaria Municipal de Agricultura, Pesca e Abastecimento (Semapa), o festival irá acontecer nos mercados municipais, na Feirinha São Luís e em diversas áreas rurais da cidade.
O festival tem como destaque uma série de atividades, incluindo exposição e comercialização de produtos da mandiocultura, concursos de qualidade e apresentações culturais. O objetivo é não apenas oferecer um espaço para a exposição dos produtos locais, mas também criar oportunidades para os produtores e comerciantes interagirem diretamente, promovendo um contato mais próximo entre a origem e o consumidor final.
Segundo o secretário da Semapa, Liviomar Macatrão, “a segunda edição do festival tem como objetivo fortalecer o escoamento da farinha produzida na Zona Rural de São Luís, levando o comerciante de farinha dos mercados municipais a entrar em contato diretamente com os produtores”. Com isso, busca-se fortalecer as comunidades rurais, impulsionando suas atividades agrícolas e econômicas.
A programação do festival inclui exposições dos produtos da mandiocultura, onde os visitantes poderão conhecer a diversidade e a qualidade dos produtos locais. Além disso, serão realizados concursos para selecionar a Melhor Farinha, a Melhor Farinha Gourmet e o melhor prato que utilize a farinha como ingrediente. Esses pratos serão servidos em restaurantes nos mercados municipais, proporcionando aos visitantes a oportunidade de degustar criações culinárias únicas.
Um destaque importante é a consultoria gastronômica fornecida pela chef Dolores Manzarra, que esteve envolvida na primeira edição do festival, e a presença do chef Oscar Neto como jurado do concurso de melhor prato. A qualidade das farinhas será avaliada com critérios como acondicionamento, granulometria, coloração, ponto de torragem e a presença de impurezas, garantindo produtos de alta qualidade para os consumidores.
A comunidade local demonstrou grande entusiasmo pelo festival. Produtores como José Ribamar Rodrigues e a agricultora Sonia Lira ressaltam a importância do evento para promover a agricultura local, valorizar a mandiocultura e incentivar os produtores a elevar a qualidade de seus produtos. O festival não apenas oferece uma plataforma para exposição, mas também a oportunidade de estabelecer uma marca de reconhecimento para os produtos da região, como a “Farinha São Luís”.
A iniciativa teve seu início com um curso de Melhoramento de Farinha em parceria com a Embrapa Cocais, que capacitou os agricultores participantes para melhorar a qualidade da produção. José de Ribamar Veloso, da Embrapa, destacou que o curso enfatizou boas práticas de higiene na manipulação dos alimentos e no manuseio da massa, visando aprimorar a qualidade da farinha e agregar valor ao produto final.
